Howdy yall, i plan on starting another bow soon and i was thinking about a recurve. I have seen where yall have steamed the tips to make it easier, but what do you recurve the tips with? from the tip, how far in should they bend? anyone have any pix?

thank you

Pintail,
Never tried anything like that, but I believe there is a chapter in Traditioanl Bowyer's Bible volume 2 on steaming and recurving tips.  Check it out at the library if you don't have a copy.  Loads of pics of the jigs too.

Pintail,,

I just use a pan of water and some aluminum foil to steam the tips and then clamp them to a simple form. It is very easy to do. I try to reflex the last 6" from the string nock back towards the handle. Here is a link to a bow I reflexed and sinewed a few years ago.
