I have a 45# Bear Kodiak Hunter (late 70's), my draw length is 28" and I am shooting a B50 string. I am new to trad hunting and am trying to select some carbon arrows. I typically have shot 125g broadheads with my compound. Reading other postings on this site, it sounds like I'll need about 10 gpi. Does anyone have a similar bow with recommendations?

Robert,
You could probably use GoldTip trad 3555's or Carbon Xpress Heritage 150's.  I suspect you will need to use a weighted insert or go to a heavier point though.  Either of those will get you over 10 grains per pound.

Go see Bill at BuyU bows on Texas street just east of Benton road.  I'm pretty sure he has both the Golt Tip trads and CX Heritage shafts.

If he doesn't, I know some fellow here in town that have them and you could try them out before spending the money on a dozen.

He's right, I used to use gold tip 3555 carbons on my bear 45# Kmag, and they shot great after I stripped off the vanes and added feathers.

(I say "used to" because I switched to woodies just for fun)

Thanks I'll stop by BuyUbows today. Do either of you know of a good spine chart that will work for carbons and recurves?
