I know this is an older thread but it provides some good pack content details to think about.
I added a quick blot to my pack based on it.

I wanted to add the following.
Every year I do a DIY hunt out of state. I was checking my pack contents and equipment predeparture this year and found something weird..

I have two bic lighters, one wrapped in electrical tape and the other wrapped in duct tape.
Both lighters have plenty of fluid, but it appears the flint has disintegrated. How does that happen?
It doesn't help if you have equipment that doesn't work. LOL.

I don't know about the lighters....but I do change my hunting loadout often. Based on where or how I am hunting. I honestly try and carry as little gear as possible, without omiting something critical. Fred Asbell used to say the more you carry the less quiet you are. I think I fall into the trap of using ALL the room in a pack.
