Bow String Life

Hello Guys,
           It's been a long time. Question for all on strings. Several years ago I bought a new string for my Roy Hall Apache. Not exactly sure of when but it has been at least 5 years. I love this bow but for some reason I began shooting and hunting with my Hunter II and ignored my Apache until now. When I put the new string on the bow I shot it enough to adjust nock points and silencers. Maybe 30 shots. The string looks like new. It was well waxed when I put the bow on the rack. My bows are stored where the see no sun light. I know every thing has a life. I am certainly not willing to risk a bow or injury over the cost of a string. Question is would you trust this string on your bow? I believe it is a D97 string if this makes any difference. I believe it to be a quality string as I purchased it through Roy.

I personally would be fine with it. I have a string on my longbow that I've been shooting for 4 years now and don't have any plans to change it out. I just wax it a bit.

If you said 25yrs,  I'd probably throw a new one on there just outa principle........ but 5?  Kept waxed and like new?  I'd shoot that sucker for 20 more years!  Seriously though,  my opinion is that it'd be perfectly fine!  I wouldn't hesitate for a second.

If you remember how it sounded to you and now it sounds louder than you remember, it might be time to replace it.  Ken Beck of Black Widow bows told us at a seminar one time that bow strings get louder with age.

Unless mice got to it or something, I'd think it would be fine. I have had strings on a couple bows a lot longer than that. And I make my own......

First, thanks to all who took your time to reply. You reaffirmed my thoughts and I am now comfortable putting her back to work. I will put a fresh wax on the string and a coat of Howards Feed-N-Wax on the bow and she will be ready to go. I bought the bow from this site probably around 15-20 years ago. Few things improve with age. It was nearly new when I bought it and the osage limbs were the bright yellow of newly worked wood of that species. They have aged to a beautiful honey color. The bubinga riser and overlay on the front has also turned from a pinkish purple to a deep golden brown with plenty of figure. Certainly one of my favorites.
