Although I have a half dozen of his bows the Sage was the only one I never found in time to buy. I did find a Sage by John Schulz and was able to buy it. I think prices ranged from $500 to $900.  The last time I talked to Dave, he was so far out on orders, I never ordered one either. He had started building bows for Jerry Hill to sell, and pretty much retired. If you find one be ready. I think most of his bows were a combination of bamboo or bamboo and glass. Maybe you'll run across one. He also made the Ol Favorite, which was similar to the Sage, but with Yew instead of Osage. Because the two are backed with bamboo, and no glass, it is possible to reduce the weight if you find one that is 10+ lbs to heavy,  I had Ted Fry at Raptor Archery in Oregon reduced one for me by 14 lbs. Ted builds mainly Self Bows, or laminated bows. Just a thought. Otherwise, stay in touch with Dave, and maybe he will build one for you. Things have a way of going full circle. There is one thing, I should mention. Unless the seller is the original owner and can answer your questions, ask about the history. Self bows, and laminated bows without glass are "draw length specific" as Dave said, and can be ruined if they are overdrawn.  Dave said, if your 65" bow is marked 60 lbs at 26" and still increases by 3 lbs at 27" and 28" it is probably ok to shoot it at 27". What he was saying if it weighs in at less than 60 lbs at 26" you want to ask if they had the weight reduced, or was it caused by being overdrawn.
