Gents,

Need some advice.

In February, I strained the hell out of my arm and shoulder while on professional training.

Problem did not go away. Symptons were a sore upper arm and slight loss of strength. Pain only when I move my arm a certain way and definate retricted rotator movement. Now I am at the point where when I try to pull my bow, my bow arm collapses from the pain and a loss of strength. Conclusion from two medical sources is that the muscle and tendons under my shoulder blade have taken a beating and this has put additional strain on the biceps. Problem will not go away on its own. Attending this now in a non-surgical fashion: acupuncture (don't laugh, it has worked for me before with other muscle injuries), however, I would really like to know if there are any exercises that one can do to strengthen this and any related muscles to restore order to my bow arm.

Also be interested in hearing if this has ever happened to anyone else on this forum; bow arm/shoulder problems that effectively sideline you.

Gotta tell ya that it really sucks not being able to pull my bow what with me just starting off in what I have learned to enjoy and look forward to.

I sure as hell hope that I don't have to go back to bang bang sticks full time because of this.

Since you have gone to your doctors,I would see a physical therapist.Maybe they could help with the proper exercises. When I had some elbow pain,I saw my doctor and then looked up on the internet and found a site for physical therapy and did the excercises for elbow problems.
Best of luck to you.

You may want to go to an orthopedic doctor. If you have injuried or torn the rotator cuff it will rarely get better on it's own. Muscle sorenes pain is one thing but injury pain is a warning. Lay off of it until you know for sure. If you try to play through the pain you may injure it to a point you can't fix it the right way. I'm speaking from experience.
