So I'm ordering some arrows for my new bow.  It is asking me if I want 8 inch tapered nock for 12 bucks.what is the reasoning behind doing that??? My old Tred Barta arrows are too heavy for this bow.

If they're wood shafts it's a tail taper. The purpose is so that the arrow recovers from the archers paradox more quickly. IMO they fly better with a tail taper. It can also help with FOC if you're trying to achieve that as well.

I do like tail taper on my arrows. I think it's worth it if the arrow is a good match for your bow.

All of my wood arrows are tapered I do it my self they fly so much better and I like a 5/16 nock more than an 11/32 .

I really like tapered and footed arrows, smooths out the flight and gives good FOC.

The best shooting woods that I ever had were compressed cedar with tapered nock ends.  23/64" shaft compressed to 11/32" and nock tapered to 5/16".
I hear rumors of compressed woods coming out but so far...

The $12 is well worth it.   I have all my 11/32" shafts tapered by Lost Nation Archery now.  They fly great out of all my bows.
