I have used Pro fin for quite a while and really like it. I have never used it over top of Testors model paint though. Has anyone out there done it this way, and if so, are they compatible?

Thanks,
BP

I just put some Profin over some Testors 10 minutes ago-so far so good

Pro-fin will work over water based testors, the oil base will pull fine lines, even some of the medium lines. Use water base to be safe.

I've also had to go with the wb over my cresting as it dissolved my fine silver lines.

aromaker is the source for info on Profin as far as I'm concerned.  I beleive what he says as he sells the Profin and makes some really fine arrows

Thanks guys. Has anyone tried putting a water based topcoat over the Testors, then top that off with ProFin?

I have a pretty good supply of the oil based Testors, so I am trying to come up with a way to "make it work" with Profin.

I was thinking of possibly spraying a topcoat of WB Poly (Polycrylic) over the Testors, then Profin.

I've used MinWax polyacrylic (water based) over my Testors crests to prevent MinWax polyurethane from running the crests, particularly the silver and gold pinstripes. I would think this same approach would work for Pro-Fin.

I have also over coated and even ran gasket lacquer and epoxy sealers by doing it...it does work.

Forgot to say that I just dip the crested end in straight MW polyacrylic to get an even and protective coat - it's quicker, and the stuff is very thin and dries very clear and hard (even though it looks like skim milk in the can).
