Burnsie

I was messing with my bows this weekend and started thinking about how much money I had wrapped up in them. It was a beautiful day today so I decided to bring them all out where there was good natural light and photograph them, as well as document all the specs.  Make, model, wood combos, original purchase price..etc.  I'm going to burn a couple copies of the pictures and documentation and store them offsite in the event of a fire or robbery.  Double checking with my insurance agent to make sure they are properly covered too.  I know this is common sense stuff I should be doing with all my belongings, but I admit I have let things slip over the past few years as I have added to my collection.  Thought this might be a good reminder to others, to keep an up to date inventory of all things you work so hard for.
While I was at it, I thought I would pass along a few picks of my collection.

Too bad you couldn't find any recurves to shoot Burnsie, nice collection.

sure looks like another guy is like me, and that is I never found a bow I did not like.

I got a total of 17 bows. I do seem to shoot one the most and that is a checkmate firebird model and next in line is a Martin hunter. The rest I play with at times.

Thanks for posting the pics mate. I too have just updated all my things onto the house insurance. Better be safe than sorry anyday.

You've got a thing for the Brackenberry style recurves, that's for sure!  Nice collection

hey whip,of all the bows shown which is your go to bow?i know the blacktail and rose oak are probably the most costly  and prettiest but would you replace them  or buy less exp bows if they did get stolen?i like recurves too and sometimes the most exp bow is not always the best shooter.i've never shot a blacktail or rose but man if they shhot as good as they look i guess my questions are answered.thanks for helping me to save some $ for i find myself looking for that great bow that stands out better than all the rest.only problem is:there doesn't seem to be the perfect bow!

Whip, you're not the first to notice the Brackenbury connection to many of my bows. Hope to someday add an original Brack and a Stalker recurve by Charlie Bisharat.  Charlie was also tutored by Jim B. but is not building anymore and they are hard to come by. I have found a few but nothing in the weight and length I need. Also looking to add a Morrison, Robertson, Caribow, ACX and Silvertip someday as well. So I'll keep tucking away a little mad money here and there and keep watching the classifieds.(Good bargains if your patient)

See, I am assuming you were directing your question to me and not Whip. The RoseOak is currently my main shooter for Whitetail, but the Blacktail is really starting to win me over. When I go Elk hunting next year I will probably focus on the Fox and Brackenbury because they are a little heavier. I like all the bows for various reasons but I will get rid of one if I can't make it work for me. If I were in the situation of having to replace my bows, I might go a different direction and get an ACX or one of the others I mentioned above.
