Very nice Ken, I just love to scout this time of year when nature is renewing itself, you never know what you will run into looking for turkey sign or just stumping in the spring.

Kenny, that is so much like my hunting place that it had me sitting here with my mouth open. Well, except for the hobblebush. They are mostly planted around houses and such, and I don't see any in the deer woods. We have pinxter bushes and laurel and rhododendron, flame azaleas too.

The salamanders are the same kind that live in huge numbers around my camp. On a damp day, they are all over the place, making it treacherous to walk the logging skids, lest you step on one. Your pics are much nicer than any I have taken of them. There is another color phase that they have, an olive color with the same spots. Beautiful.

I read somewhere that of the animal biomass in the forest, that the vast majority of the total poundage is made up of salamanders. Check the pools, you'll catch them doing what lots of people wish they were doing in pools.

What is your new camera?

new camera is a Kodak Z710 with a 10x zoom. just starting to figure out how to use all the settings, same one i had at the bunny hunt. it has 2 settings, 1 for landscape and one for a close, detailed pic which i use for the small critters and flowers. the BIG draw back is the size of the camera, very heavy to wear around your neck and to bulky for pockets. need to find a good bag that rides well. wish i had this camera 2 years ago when i was turkey hunting and ssstumbled across a huge field of trilliums, it was a beautifull sight, sadly enough i believe i have lost permission to hunt there due to land being sold. this was the same place that i saw the blode coyote twice, was really hoping to get a pic of her. i plan on taking more pictures then ever this spring, down load them and sort them out on weekends.

I wear that little one of mine over one shoulder, in a bag on my hip. That is where I carry the Canon Eos camera, too, unless it is wearing a long lens. Try the strap that has a little stretch to it.

From the pictures you posted, you are figuring out that camera pretty dang well!

I have heard the rumors that spring occurs in some parts of the world, but I haven't seen it yet.  We just got another 8-10" of snow this weekend.  White, white, white....I would love to see some green or any other color...I am very envious of those enjoying all of springs wonders.

It is 'snowing' in my neighborhood, and the ground around the cherry trees is solid pink from the drifting petals.

I can attest to that, Ken...made carrying that blind a rather chilly effort...
