Is there any shops other then Lamonts (the footed shaft)?

Looking for a few things.  Thought there was one other but cant remember the name.  Or is there any other good shops that carry a decent selection of stickbow stuffs nearer the cities?

BowsnLabs

G&M Archery is a good one, but they are up near Walker, MN about 3 hrs north of MN.

Bwana Archery in Little Canada carries some Traditional stiff. Not a lot. You can try Cabelas in Rogers as well as they have some stuff as well.

Hey Dan, Gander Mountain used to have many trad items, you might try there. Lamont can mail to the cities, should get there over-night. How are the turkeys cooperating? Fishing??

Stop by and talked to John JR...funny you mention that..that shop is where I bought my first stickbow and where I grew up shooting, longbefore JR had opened up his own shop and closed it lol.

Gander here in Forest lake stinks...funny too my uncle runs the bow dept, he should know better then not to keep things on hand.

Turkey hunting's going great.  Shot my first longbeard longbow bird in Ne this year...shot two more in Kansas with the double black powder, as did my old man.   My dads and bro's season here starts tomorrow for 5 days, then I'm headed back to NE to try for my last two tags that are itching to be used.  Wi starts the 12th of may, then it's back to squarebanks the 21st.

Didnt fish the brule yet.  got blown out before we could get up for steelies.  Lakes JUST opened up so no crappie fishing yet either though that should start picking up here soon.   Need to get the boat out sometime inbetween calling for three guys in the next 5 days lol.

Hoping to find some rubber grips (those preuncut rubber band tubes that BW and others sell).  Of course no one has them locally.   Was hoping there might be a "niche" store somewhere nearby that I havent heard of yet.  Heck Coon Rapids is all of 30 minutes away yet the two stickbow shops are 3 hours or so from here...ugg!!!

Nope, Gander Mountain does not have very much for trad bows, we have three overpriced Bear bows.  I would call the footed shaft, they will mail anything you need, good service.

stay away from gander...one of the bear bows i saw had a visibly twisted limb and i witnessed their "archery pro" string the bow with the step through method

Second on G&M, Greg is great to deal with, good prices & fast shipping.  He  does website sales too.  Don't believe he's a sponsor so PM if you want contact info...

Is there still a place down at Rochester (The Footed Shaft?)....

When I lived in the cities years ago, there was one in South Mpls called B&B supply, not sure if they're still in business anymore.

i live in maple grove (NW 'burb) i just visited the pope and young museum (highly recommend) and the footed shaft, great little store. cabelas in rogers and owatanna has a very limited supply of trad stuff, and they don't know much. i pointed out to the guy that a bow they had on display had visibly twisted limbs, i went back a few weeks later and it was still there for sale. I've never seen anything at Gander, or Dicks. Sportsman Warehouse in Coon Rapids might have a bit, not sure though. Mail order is the way to go in these parts.

ya it does stink.   still hoping to hit the museum, zwickey shop (have shot them since I started), and the footed shaft....maybe.  Might have to run home on a short notice this trip unfortunatly.

Speaking of Minne-Sota, since I got you guys here.  Looks like I need to go to Duluth for a week in July for work.  Any fishies to shoot close by if I get a chance?

alaskabowhunter

Mille Lacs Lake, Lake Vermillion both excellent walleye lakes. Superior has decent salmon and lake trout fishing but I never found it to be as good as Lake Michigan so I never fished it much. I grew up on Mille Lacs lake, 31 years there.

AkDan

cant help ya Steve....other then steelies I dont fish the duluth area....have but it's been a TON of years.

You grew up on milacs eh.....hmm...any good marks for opener weekend?  I MIGHT still be here then this year, still unsure.  Red is still froze as is lake of the woods.  Crappies are staging and starting to come shallow.  Milacs is going to be PACKED!!!

alaskabowhunter

Big Point where the sand meets the rock on the south side, Shaw's Reef, the rock humps on the West end of Doe Island.... all good spots opening weekend on Mille Lacs... chartruse crawler harnesses or lindy rig with leeches, bobber fish at night .... Our place was on Big Point..
I was born with nothing and I still have most of it left.

If your still in the vacinity June 6 I know where you can see a bunch of bows in all stages of production, Chad Holm's by Little Falls!  You should swing on by if you can...
