what to do?

I tried bag targets, but they pulling my points out, then I tried a burlap sack filled with bags but it pulled out points as well, then I tried haybales, but now my arrows are flying right threw it, what is a good target thats inexpensive and lasts a long time?

I agree with Vermonster-your inserts should not pull out that easy-you might want to try roughing up the inside of the end of the arrow a bit, then clean with rubbing alcohol, let dry and use goat tuff.

Use an epoxy and make them permanent. Then you can continue to use the targets you've already bought. Hot melt isn't the best choice in your climate.

I use a store bought target.It is foam,and it works very well.

Get some acetone and a Q-tip and make sure the inside of your points are good and clean.  You can also score the inside of the point with a 5/16 tap so the glue has a rough surface to stick to.

I do not think it is as much the target as it is the glue you are using. Try a different glue or epoxy
and see if that helps.

Ian, I wouldn't use hot melt for points. I would use an epoxy. If you use hot melt, you'll loose tips in almost any target.

I had the same problem until I started cleaning the inside of my field tips like Aeronut said and using Goat Tuff glue.  
It is a bit expensive but it lasts a long time and I have not lost a tip since I started using it.

Do a better job of prepping your tips befor glueing and get a 18-1 Rinehart Block target....

Been in the same spot - Aeronut & Badlands nailed it.  Rough 'em up (I purchased a carbon prep tool), clean everything, and use GoatTuff.

Here is the best way to keep your points on. Forget the acetone and swabs to clean the inside of your points, I used to do the same as well as run a tap in the point to rough it up.

Here is the easy way, the never loose another point way. Make a cone of 100 grit sandpaper that fits on the taper of one of you broken shafts. Wrap the paper around the taper and insert it in the point. Twist the shaft and paper around a couple of times until you have bare metal showing inside. You can't get the inside of the point any cleaner than bare metal. Tap the sanding dust out of the point and glue the point on with Defcon 5 minute epoxy from Walmart, fast, cheap and easy.

You can still take the point off with heat, just takes a little more. I have never lost a point since I started using this method and lost 5 or 6 on every 3D round I shot when I used hot melt.

I do like Eric, but throw the prepped points in a bowl of alcohol. I use hot-melt glue. When heating the head over the gas stovetop, the alcohol burns off. This makes it more fun. Then I shove the hot head onto the glue that is on the shaft while spinning it slowly. I keep the water running in the sink and use the dribble to cool the glue. Scrape the excess off with the remnants of a fingernail and I'm done.

It's not the target. It's the prep and the glue. I haven't used epoxy or anything other than hot-melt on woodies, but maybe these guys are onto something.

Aloha,
I also use the hot melt glue with no problems.  I make an extra effort to clean the inserts and points with finger nail polish remover and heat it over a butain stove.
But for a Target, I use old boogie boards that are easy to find here in Hawaii.  They are made of the same foam as portable targets and I get them at garage sales for a couple bucks. I just place two together and shoot away.

If your trying all the stuff above and your heads are still coming off; I would ask if your using a source of heat that has soot in it. If the soot gets into the head; or on the glue it can totally interfere with the adherence.
If that is not it; then sharpen the rear edge of your broadheads- so they cut on the way out.
 I like to be able to take off a broadhead; or switch from a target point to a steel blunt; to a broadhead if I want.
I will sometimes test an arrow with a target point; and if it shoots perfect; then I glue on a broadhead..
 I can do that with hot melt glue; with apoxy..   :rolleyes:  your stuck.
