Bowfishing?

Decided I'm gonna do some Bowfishing this summer and have a set up in mind but curious if I might be overlooking something here. I know its not the best of set ups just curious if it will work or if there's a simpler way. Don't wanna throw much money at it, will prob only go  afew times.

Already have a ams gadget thing I use for a quiver holder that I plan to use with one of the Cajun reels. Was just gonna strap that to a cheap rice burner bow I already have, put a flipper rest on it and buy acouple fishing arrows. Plan on just shooting with one of those plastic Saunders tab instead of those finger saver thingys. Open to any advice or suggestions, Thanks!

I'd recommend shooting off of a shelf. The flipper may not work great w heavy glass arrows. How will it also fare walking through scrub brush and vines if you walk brooks like me?

Solid bulletproof rig. I tape cloth to the riser first so I don't scratch anything. Than the rest. Not perfect looking but absolutely functional.
Used a set up just like this for maybe 35 years

My set up is like bowguy67, get close and aim low if shooting into water , i've used a bowfishing reel type before and a slight malfunction had the arrow lashed back at me so now I keep it simple. Come to the Illinois River if you can and shoot all the asian carp you can we need help trying to keep them in check ,check out Illinois river carp hunter on you tube, friends and I did this the other year and its was a blast.

What a fish!!!! How much did it weigh?

I started with a simple cajun spool then moved on to the zebco and muzzy bowfishing reels with the mini rods then ams retrievers before going back to the cheap spool. The fancier the setup it seemed the more that could go wrong or take longer to fix. Ill be putting together a cheap setup for my new recurve for this year as well as making up some el cheapo arrows and gettin a screw in flashlight mount for frogs.

Get a strap on adapter for bow, unless have an insert, buy a reel mount, I have found Shakespeare T20 my favorite reel, buy bow fishing line, and two arrows.

As far as the op, sounds like you are all set. I agree about the flipper rest. Personally I shoot off the shelf.  I guess you can shoot at a milk jug in the yard and see how it works before wasting precious time on the water

Sounds like a good setup.  I too would just shoot off the shelf rather than a flipper rest.  Fish arrows are heavy and rough and that flipper won't last long.  Velcro fuzz on the shelf works great.
