Can someone help!!!
I have acquired a Bear Kodiak Hunter recuve.
1.)The sn starts with KT. Does anyone know how to date this bow or what year it was made?
2.)The AMO on this bow is 60". What would the correct string length be and what should the brace height be?

Any info would be helpful....

woodchucker

Serial #'s starting with K were made in the 1970's

String length will be 56" (only use B-50 Dacron)

Brace height should be 8" (give or take 1/4")
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

You stepped right up, Chuck! You are all over that one!

Killdeer
Long, long afterward, in an oak I found the arrow, still unbroke;
And the song, from beginning to end, I found again in the heart of a friend.

Recovered? It has gotten me so far into the hole that I am trying to dig my way out by going DOWN!!
Hows doin' up there? Our Great Blue Herons are nesting, croci are croakin' and forsythia is blooming.

Uh-oh, this is a hijack, isn't it. Bummer.
Killdeer out.  :wavey:

How's about a couple pic of her,but for sure 1970 or later...one thought when ordering a string. The letters AMO-60" on your bow ? or AMO-whatever on a bow.AMO is the Archery Manufactureing Org.Those letters AMO did not appear on bows until around march of 1968 and still do today...That was the standard...so the string for a 60" Ben Pearson will fit a 60" Bear Kodiak or Indian Archery.AMO supplied manufactures with a cable rather then a string (the string could stretch). The cable would have to brace your bow at a certin given brace hight. This made sure all 60" strings would fit anyone's 60" bow....AMO 60" is really only like 55 1/2 to 56 1/2 inches long.So when ordering a string for you KH you would say for a 60" AMO.The brace on that KH can run from 7 1/4 to 8 1/2...pending where it shoots best for you...Let's see some pics..bowdoc

BobCo 1965

My son's string length with twists in it is 56 1/2"

Dacron.
