I just picked up a 66" Assenheimer. Very nice bow. Could someone tell me the recommended brace height.

Thanks!

Great bows....  I have a 62 incher that I keep between 7.5 and 7.75".

Thanks, Otto. I'm in that range right now.

Haven't shot it too much yet 'cause the tendons in my elbow are slow to heal up after a bad tweaking. It's driving me nuts! Makes for a long winter of just twiddling with my archery gear, instead of shooting it.

BTW, I really wanted the Assenheimer you had for sale earlier this year. Looked real nice. Got this one off the auction site. Put in a bid that I didn't think would stand, and it did! The wife was a bit miffed at me, but it was a good deal!

P.S. Nice buck in your Avatar!

Thanks.  Good luck with the elbow healing.  I just started shooting again after a 3 month layoff from tendonitis.  It was bad stuff.  But after lots of rest and some physical therapy it's virtually gone.  Now it's a matter of building strength in mucsles that haven't been used since early December.  Take it slow and good luck with it.

Chuck,
I have a 64" Assenheimer.  Don Assenheimer recommeds a 7 3/4" - 8" brace height. I have mine set at 7 7/8".  My actual poundage that I'm pulling is 46 lbs.  Shooting a aluminum Easton Legacy, 28", 125 gr. point at 28" long.  This arrow flys like a dart. Friends of mine shoot Assenheimer's suggest 8" - 8 1/8".  Happy tuning!

I just recently bought another Assenheimer recurve. The paper with it stated that the brace should be between 7 3/4" to 8" I have mine set at 7 7/8" and it is very quiet. They are awesome bows and nice people.

You guys have not stated whether you are measuring from the throat of the grip or the rear of the shelf.  I set my Assies at around 7-7 1/4 from the back of the shelf.  Makes using the old fistmele measure easy--just stick my thumb in the air under the string and I have instant reference point (my thumb measure right at 7" that way). I guess that would make them about 8" from the throat.  They shoot great where I have them....Dave
The years accumulate on old friendships like tree rings, during which time a kind of unspoken care and loyalty accrue between men.

I have been measuring from the throat of the grip.

Granny: Where does your Assenheimer paperwork say to measure from?
