Can't wait to get out turkey hunting with my new 54" RER Aroyo. Should be perfect for my double bull blind. Lots of snow here in Wi. Been seeing turkeys here and there. It's gotta be hard on these birds. Makes you appreciate the toughness of all wildlife in the winter.

Just itchin' to try the Double Bull blind I purchased late last fall.

Nate and I drew tags this year and will be out in force later this spring!

April 21 is the DAY...In Missouri at least.
I have tried three seasons to kill a turkey with my bows. I was able to draw (without a blind) on only ONE bird. The arrow was deflected, but great fun anyway. Turkey vitals are about the size of a softball. Practice hard on picking the correct spot. Any sharp broadhead will do the job if placed properly.
These birds can see you blink at 30 steps. If you really want to take a bird your first year... buy a good blind; practice shooting out of it and set it and your decoys(facing your blind) up in a good spot. In my opinion a blind is the best way to go with a bow.

I will be out the morning of April 21st with my 12 guage. Then the 2nd and or 3rd week with a longbow and a shaggie suit. Blinds were just "no fun" for me. I felt as if I wasn't in the woods while in a blind. Blinds are deadly effective for birds.

good luck,

What do y'all think....I'm going out for gobbler with my Longbow 68" 45# and I'm going to try some old fashioned bear broadheads.

I guess I'm looking for a ground blind right now, and a bow quiver (and snake boots!)

I'm going to go scout the land this Sat (friends property apparently crawling with turkeys).

Any advice?  Recommendations for a first timer?  :)

It starts April 12th here. I've been seeing them out in the fields all puffed up just waiting for me!! I am off from work the whole first week. YEEEHAAA!!

I'll be heading out tomorrow morning for an opening day hunt.  The Double Bull is packed and my vest is in the truck.  I'll be hunting with my Crow Creek longbow with Grizzly heads. I tried shooting the guillotines and although they shoot ok, carrying them is an issue.  Since I'm hunting public land and will be covering ground, that could be a painful problem.

My Ace Super Express' and I should be in both Maryland and Georgia at some point this spring.

Yep, got drawn for the first hunt in ZZ.  Need to redeem myself after last year.  Shot a tad low and didn't get him.  Whitebuffalo dropped off a string tracker to me, and it will be in use this year.  PICK A SPOT! preferrably about 3 inches higher than last year.....

"instinctive archery" is more like playing the violin. Without practice you may remember the mechanics, but you will not be a virtuoso.
