Hey guys,
I'm about to build my first fiberglass bow with the help of someone else who is allowing me to use his shop to build it. I know i want to use birdseye maple on the limbs but i have no idea what i want to use on the riser. I would just like to see some wood combos with maple. Thanks

Adam,
Here's one with Chechen & Curly Maple.  There's more pic's in the classifieds under "FS/T RER T/D".

Check around about using the birdseye in the limbs.  I've known of some bows to develope seperation spots under the glass when highly figured woods like birdseye were used.  Don't know if it was purely the wood grain or some innatention by the bowyer when glueing it up.  Same thing with bocote.

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

Alright an excuse to post some pics    :D

Those bows are so pretty a guy almost wouldn't want to use them...just hang them on the wall and drule! Beautiful bows guys!  I really like the contrast with the pau ferro on your Caribow T.J.  A real work of art!

Nice bows so far!
Mine is quilted maple riser, walnut/red phenolic accents.  Walnut inlay.  Limbs are curly maple.

maple can be booger to work with bowyers tell me, but the ones that know what they are doing , make some pretty bows! Some of the prettiest is Acadian Woods bows...just my 2 cents

I think maple is easy to work with. I just would not use as a stand alone riser wood. It needs to be laminated with a stronger wood or in several layers itself to be strong enough. Here is one of plain maple with some Ipe stripes.
