Can you wait till July and go to Denton hill??

There will be a ton of bows that you can actually try to see what YOU like.

The Dakota is among one of the best I've shot.I like my hummingbird alot.Shot a Centuar ...very nice too.

I have also shot the savana and while it is a nice bow very nice in fact it does have more handshock than the Dakota at least from my perspective.I'd really suggest that you try for yourself we're all a little differnt and only you can say what it feels like to you

Good luck!!
Shoot straight and have FUN!!

Drew

do some research on different bows, and hit the classifieds here. If you can get to a shop or show and shoot different kinds of bows, then do some shopping for a used one.

It's not the arrival, it's the journey.

When I see post about longbows I hardly ever see anyone recommend a Tomahawk......

I've seen them recommended and the one I shot was okay but again it's subjective to each of us.some folks like that one I thought it was just okay

I'm with the Savannah crowd.... no they're not perfect, but they are pretty good if you're on a budget.

Count me as among those who like the Savannah. These days I tend to shoot my Blacktail longbow more, but I still enjoy the Savannah as well.

Any of Jim Reynolds Thunderstick bows or Jason Kendall's new Katani.  Not $300, but not that much more new.  The big auction site turns quite a few bows for 300 or less, too.

Bear Montana is a nice starter bow for the price I think it is underated.

I would recommend a second hand bow.  No longer in production but still a few floating around is the chapparal kaibab, nice longbows, I have had a couple of them.  I have a checkmate crusader, takedown that is a nice bow too, was around $300.00 when I bought it.  I just let a Bamboo and osage Mosshorn go for $250.00 to a new friend of mine.  I saw once just about like it advertised for 275.00 + shipping just yesterday.  Plenty to choose from.  If you buy a bow used and don't like it you will be able to turn around and sell it for what you paid for it.  All you have to spend is some time and a little postage to figure out what you would  be happy with.

Martin "STIK",..unless you're looking for a 60er or up, I have a Savannah and I like it.
