I FINALLY got my wood.  I found a n 8 inch by 8 ft white ash log at my neighbors woodlot.  Brought it home, split it, debarked it.  Now, should I seal the ends?  I cut the staves at 74 inches for a 6ft bow.  I do have pictures of the process, I will post them when my brother-in-law transfers them to my computor.
A bad day of hunting is still far better than a good day at work.

Yes, seal the ends and back! shellac/varnish or glue...8" log huh...that's enough for a 1/2 doz. bows I should think.

You gonna make a self-bow or back it?
