Well I set out to tune by Savannah I just got off the classifieds with Heritage carbons, i'll spare you with the details just give results.
I shoot a 50# bow pull 28" some times a little more I need a clicker to train with.
Brace Height 7.25"
Arrows Heritage 150
Arrow lenght 29 BOP
Arrow weight  545 grains w/ 200tip
595 grains W/ 250 tip Shoots both about the same.
200grain tip = 13.8 FOC
250grain tip = 17.2 FOC
The only thing I need to do is build out my side plate the spine a little weak but I think I can fix that easy enough. They fly right with 175 but too light of arrow and not enough FOC for me.
175grain = 520grain with 12.9 FOC

I may in the future try Heritage 250's

What I have learned so far.
I built out my side plate with 3 pieces of leather and the only tips I can get to show stiff are 125grains. If I add a 20grain weight I get it to show about right but when I go to 175 it is weak. I guess for hunting arrows I will need to look at the 250's but for summer shooting and target I can use the 150's.
The 175 grains are showing slightly weak and if I go with 175grain weight in a broadhead I think it will be even weaker.
Any thoughts.

Terry...imo ...that 520 grains with 175 up front...is going to blow thru any deer with  a good sharp broadhead......plus youll get a flatter flying arrow with less weight...the 520 grains is 10 grains per pound at your 50# of draw....i wouldnt worry about using it...especially with a good sharp 2 blade.

Terry, perhaps I am misunderstanding what you are saying; but building out the sideplate will make a weak arrow weaker and I think you are looking for stiffer.
I don't shoot carbons; but it seems to me you already recognized that you need stiffer shafting when you got proper flight with the lighter point.
As for the FOC, looks like you have that figured out too.........but you can't fix it till you get shafts that are stiffer still.

Thanks I had it turned around. I'll take off what I have on and shoot without a plate to see if that will get it.

Steve I hear ya, I think my bow may pull higher than 50# as marked I need to get a new scale.

Bjorn:
I did some more reading and in OL Adcocks guide to tunning it say's under spined (weak shaft) remedy= lighter point, thicker side plate, shorter shaft of switch to a dacron string.

If I am reading this correct I did need to build out the side plate.

I don't have much experience with tuning, but I think you had it right Terry. Don't they usually say that a bow shelf cut past center is more forgiving of stiffer spines? So, building out the side plate is the correct thing to do for arrows that are showing too weak, correct?

Maybe someone else can clarify. I will be buy some heavier limbs for my take down in the near future, so I will have to go through the tuning process as well.
