Hey guys I finally finished up my Cresting lathe. I bought an old sewing machine motor with foot pedal, scrap lumber from work, some stain that was laying around and I'm good to go! Some of you guys remember I was having trouble getting the dimmer switch to control the speed. I tried a regular dimmer switch and a Ceiling fan speed control, neither work. They just turned it off and on. So iwent today and picked up a used foot pedal for a sewing machine motor and tried it, works perfect and stops on a dime. I'm actually happier with this pedal than I thought. The motor is running all the time and I have better control! I'm into this for $41.00 dollars with Motor, Pedal, Paint and 2 brushes!  Just thought I would share some pics of the lathe.

Whatcha using on the nock end?

Its about three levels above my Makita drill clamped to the workbench!

Thanks guys!

SOS, on the nock end I used some tubing from Menards and a zip tie to keep it on good! I stuck a nock in the tubing so just enough sticks out so the arrow will fit securely! Works good!

This is awesome.  Exactly the visual I needed.  I have the exact same motor with the dimmer switch.  No foot pedal though. I was stumped as to how to mount it and what to use for attaching the nock.  Thanks a lot.

That's a great looking lathe Joe! I should look into making something like that. I'm sure it beats my battery powered screw driver with bluetak in the bit on the front of it to hold the nock, and a coffee cup on the other end of the arrow.  :D   ;)  haha! Again, well done!     :clapper:
