Weight tubes and arrow flight?
«

Guys, I am thinking of weighting some GT 35/55's and am considering the 3 grain per pound weight tubes for them. I have already tried aquarium tubing and a couple of others but they all seem to adversely affect flight. For those of you that have tried the tubes do they affect it at all? Thanks, Mark

I am shooting my Trad Hunter XT's, 35/55's from a 64" Widder, 53# @ 30"...I use the 3 gr tubes, 125 gr head, standard insert, the aluminum nock "reciever"? and a bohning signature nock...The tubes don't affect my flight at all, long as I can hit me anchor point...lol!!!

I've used them in my GT's and haven't had any problems. I use 3gpi's.

I put in some 3/16 poly rope this morning and so far it doesn/t seem to affect anything negatively, and added about 75 grains which brings me up to 565-570 grains, which should be enough for hogs as long as I do my job correctly. Mark

Anything you do to raise arrow weight is goign to affect flight to a greater or lesser degree.
More weight = more inertia. It takes more push fromthe string to get that heavy shaft going over a lighter one. Since the arrow is one piece, that translates into more bend.
Makes your shafts seem weaker spined. More tip weight shows this mroe dramatically than a weight tube.

They made my shafts act stiffer, and when the arrow would impact the target, they would bounce the nock out the back of the arrow.
I'll stick with 100grn inserts .

I use 5gpi in my CE Heritage 250's with 100gr brass inserts and 145gr head. It should make them very weak but I cut them at almost 31" to help. No ill effects from this 750gr arrow out of a 60lbs Assenheimer.
