OK guys and girls , we still have a few openings for the May 2008 spring bear season to attend this great oportunity to hunt bear in a fantastic part of Idaho and learn to build selfbows as well.
The first hunts date is  May 11-18 th and the second hunt will be the 18th -25th.
To give you a quick rundown the hunt takes place in the beautiful Bitterroot mountains of North central Idaho,
eight days,6 hunting days with bowbuilding each day till 2:00 in the afternoon and bear hunting till dark.
Fully guided, camp cook ( great food) and this part of Idaho is a two bear unit , with no extra bear fee.

Loads of good times with great people

In some of the most beautiful area.

.
You can contact me at Raptor Archery 541-386-4503 for more info.

I would love to fill these two up with Tradgangers if we can. Maybe some of last years guys will chime in on what a great time was had.

This hunt is all Ted says it is and more. I've been in a few bear camps and none as pretty as this one. Gary,Sue and the rest of the staff are professional and run a quality operation. Ted even knows a few things about bending wood  ;)

Have a great year Ted,

Its not about the weapon used, its about the adventure involved.

Hunting with Ted is always a ton of fun and hunting with Ted and Gary is just too cool.

I was there hunting with them last year and to say it was a great time would be doing the hunt a great disservice. It was awesome.

Some very different and awesome country... morel mushrooms literally grow by the bushel basket around there.

Lots of critters for the main focus.

And camp is as comfortable, yet rustic as any I've ever been in... don't go there planning on losing any weight!

Man!  I was hoping it was going to open up again this spring!  But with two family reunions, the possibility of a pregnant wife.... no way I could muster enough time off or money this year.  Gotta save a couple days for the bugling bulls in September.  There's always next year.

Man this sure is tempting!  Such beautiful country and the chance to build a bow and kill a bear with it - PM sent......

PMs replied to guys , sorry but best to call 541-386-4503 as there is way to much info for me to type, I love to BS about hunting anyway. Glad to see you still out there Paul, my back is just now getting back to normal after packing your bear up that hill.
Thanks for the kind words Paul and Charlie.
Come on guys and girls , lets fill this up with Tradgangers.
The picture on the bottom of the fellow carving

Man I would love to make it over with you boy's... Ted you snowed in,or let me refraze that how deep are you snowed in,bowdoc

**DONOTDELETE**

PV

Primarily bait. Tough country to spot and stalk.
The cover is pretty thick in those mountains.

Good to hear about your back Ted. All that powder skiing must have helped.

Ted Fry

Sorry guys been real busy shoveling snow!
Yeah Bowdoc , I dont think its ever going to stop snowing here. Great skiing year however.
As Paul said its tough country to spot and stalk , very steep and lots of cover , best to do that in the early season down along the river when they come out for grass.
Looks as though we have two spots filled in the second week and 1 possible in first, right Jeff?
Paul remember that big colored bear pic I got on my trail cam , the one that was at the site you shot big black. Well nobody got him last year.
Those scratches in the tree are 6.5 feet off the ground

PV

Nice pic Ted. He's bigger than big black. Would have fit nicely on my 2nd tag!

Got my hide back last month.Debra did a good job turning the ears and lips.Hair and claws came back from the tannery in great condition. Thanks again for some fine skinning in the dark with bears walking by.

What is the Avg weight of Bears?

How many color do You see in Your area?

Can I Have a Job???  :notworthy:    :archer:

Ted Fry

Average weight for this part of Idaho is around 150#-200#, every now and then a big one comes along , right Paul?
This part of Idaho is a 2 bear unit due to the fact there are so many bear, this makes real competition for food and the short season makes for slow growth.
As far as color phase , we see about 60% colored bears, everything from blonde, brown, chocholate and redish to good old black . I filmed a real looker two years ago that should be a good shooter now that was blonde body with black face and legs. Paul glad to hear the hide turned out well , yes that was some intense skining.
Be carefull what you ask for mystic , you might get it .
All the guys that contacted me need to step up, we are going to fill the other slots after March 1st. Those of you that cant make it this year start saving for next.

**DONOTDELETE**

Ted, working for a guide or in a archery shop would be a dream come true... I'm saving pennies now for next year ( Hopefully )
