I have different arrow types I like to shoot out of one bow. The ones nocks that are a little tight can I just use some sandpaper and get them where they should be? Short of putting new nocks on, is that the best way to go about this?

I use a file that is .024 and it works for my 10-12 starnd D97 string with a tight serving. Shawn

The sandpaper will work fine and I also use a small file.Dipping the nock in boiling water and then nocking it on the string,so the ears of the nock open the desired amount,is anther method used, but the sandpaper/file thing seems to work best for me.(my 2 cents)

I use the file on my Leatherman to make carbon arrow nocks slip on and off like wood nocks.

Same as RamiusEng, that Leatherman is quite the tool.

Just take it slow and test the nock after a few stroks.

I prefer to dip the nock in very hot water for a few seconds and open the ends just a bit, nock the arrow on and off a few times to get the tension the way I want it.

I wrap some really fine wet & dry (800 grit) once around the string & run my nocks up & down a few times.

All good ideas...that I didn't think about! Thanks for giving me the fix for these nocks!

I use sandpaper on my GT nocks but there are some goos ideas here that I'm gonna try.

I use the hot water trick as well..you can always redo it to fit another string that way

I got tired of trying to file mine down, so I decided to use a power tool!  I just found a bit the same size(or slightly smaller) than my string and ran it through the nock while the arrow was in a vice.  It worked great and is a lot quicker, although it's more of a form fit than a snap-on fit.
