Does anyone have experience with this type of bow?  Is the wood durable? Oily? Problems with lams?

I am looking at getting a BW recurve with Kingwood, and I would just like some opinions.  I have not heard as much about Kingwood as I have all the other exotic woods out there.

I guess BW would not build a bow out of an inferior wood anyway.

It would be a good choice, hard, and heavy. My Dakota is Kingwood, and so is a friends.
If it's in your way, move it.

I had a PLX of kingwood, although very little of the kingwood is used in the longbow, it made a very nice looking bow, in a recurve it might add a little weight. I was at the widow shop a couple months ago and they had a kingwood Psax on thier rack. A VERY good looking bow!

I believe the PAX shown on Black Widow's front cover and page 8 of their new catalog may be Kingwood. One sweet looking bow.

Brett, you're right, I can't imagine BW using it if they didn't think it would hold up. They stand behind their work as good or better than anybody out there.

I have a Widow made of kingwood.  Dark brown with hint of red, beautiful grain pattern. Goes good with the cocobolo riser.   I like it so much, I'll probably use it for my next bow also.

Had a Massie Longhorn with a kingwood handle, excellent mass and great looking too. Not a shooting characteristic issue, but the kingwood did fade from a rich purple to a reddish brown color within 8-10 months. Still a neat looking color, but not what it started as. As a riser material though I wouldn't have any hesitation to either buy or build a bow with it, heavy and hard. - eric

I have an Harrison HHC with Kingwood riser.  It is gorgeous!  Jack Harrison is a perfectionist, so Kingwood has to be good to meet his standards!

I have heard good things as well about Kingwood, thinking of having my Treadway with Kingwood Riser...

Here's a PTFX in Kingwood.

Ron LaClair had a bunch of his bows' risers made out of King Wood.....might want to ask him.

I've had a few Kingwood riser bows and they all held up well and had good mass. Shrew Samurai and Hummingbird Kingfishers come to mind.
