I sent one of the land owners that have given me exclusive permission for bowhunting a Christmas Card with a $25.00 local resturant gift card in it.  I wrote a heart felt thank you and the results were like I was leasing the land for thousands of dollars.  Just a reminder to others who have permission like this, "Don't take it for granted!"  Give an honest thanks and small token...it could be huge in results.

We gave a spiral cut ham and a turkey to the family we hunt on, because we knew they were have a large family gathering at Thanksgiving.

Great thought. Great rewards. It is rare in this unthankfull world for someone to take the time to show appreciation. I would invite you back as well. Following your example could open doors for others.
Do or do not ... there is no "try"

Amen.

My wife and I make up gift baskets at Christmas for all the land owners that let us hunt. We make Christmas sweets and add a coffee cup and/or ornament and a few other goodies. They are always appreciative and it goes a long way towards being invited back next year. We get the baskets from the local dollar store along with some of the other items. all total we probably have $10 in each basket. Cheapest lease out there.  :)

I have taken and purchased climbing sticks, the people that allow me to hunt on their land also have other stands that were in need of climbing sticks instead of screw in tree steps, I also will be picking up some gift cards at a local hunting store.  And you're right it is the cheapest lease that we can have.

Gratitude, gratitude, gratitude.

The people that allow me to hunt on their land give us more than they ever know, because of the peace and also the experience that we all have for a lifetime to share with so many others as we tell the stories that they've allowed us to freely have.  Because of my landowner, I've had the experience of watching a six-point chocolate buck come within 30 and then 20 yd. and then lay down out in front of me 40 yd. away.  Would love to take him home, but rules are rules.  And that's what got me invited back, because I followed them.  So gratitude goes a long ways.

Merry Christmas

Good on ya.  Great reminder to not take anything for granted.  My hunting land is owned by family.  But I always share the met that is taken from it.

Stay safe and have a Very Merry Holiday season!

Its not about the weapon used, its about the adventure involved.

I have been hunting the same ranch in ND. for 15 years now. Every year on the hunt we take the rancher & his wife out for a nice dinner & give them a gift of some kind. We will also send them a Christmas present. Every year the rancher sends my wife & I a hand drawn Christmas card. Last year the card just floored me. I decided to try to do some leather tooling that I had not done in 40 years and tool the card on leather. This is what I came up with and I gave this to his wife when I went out this fall.     I then made the rancher this knife. Helle blade, leather handle, with vine filework, and leather sheath.     5 years ago I took my wife & grandkids on a camping trip out west & stopped at the ranch for several days. They have become very good friends of my wife & I. The wifes email almost daily.  Bob T.

Yep.  I teach Sunday school with my landowner.  Earrings for his wife and daughter, frisbee for the boys and some Amber Bock for him.

I'm thinking of a Helle knife for him this spring - 'fraid it won't be quite as dramatic as Bob T's - very nice.

About a month ago, they hit a doe about a block away from the entrance to the property - his wife smiled and said, "You missed one!"

I don't think I could ever possibly say thank you enough to the landowner that not only lets me hunt,he let's me enjoy his little slice of heaven too,and one of my favorite things is watching him with his sons, sure brings back some good memories, see 2 1/2 years ago, I lost my son and hunting partner Dustin, lost 2 hunting partners really, my son Lance quit hunting and shooting when Dusty left,so as you could imagine, hunting was never the same,it became almost painfull and I about quit, but along comes this man with his two boys, down to my place to shoot, it hurt seeing them at first, but over the course of the summer it brought back the good memories, and I truly looked forward to seeing them, that next fall he got the farm, and has been since, practicing QDM, I try and help him as much as I can, but I feel it's never enough, this year for him I re-finished a old painted up a Howatt black mamba, it turned out absolutely beautiful, soon I will be applying some canebrakes to it as well as my gift for allowing me more than the hunt, The friendship, the understanding, and the healing I have found couldn't be bought at any price, but was given freely and I couldn't appreciate it more, So Rob,(Marblesonac on here), Thank You!, Your friendship has changed my life, the hunts have healed my heart, and your prodding has shown me a future that I never knew I had, You have made a difference my friend , one that I will never forget..........Steve
