I like features of both.  I like the smooth draw of a recurve.  I like the quiet shot, and low mass weight of the longbow.  I found the bow that incorporates all of that together in my Great Northern Ghost recurve.

Longbow, for all the reasons listed above.  Thinking back, all of my great shots, whether at game or targets, have been with a longbow.  I really believe that they are a better weapon for me.  I do own a recurve though and it is sexy, what with all those curves.

Have made and shot both and like the longbow for the simplicity. If the grips are similer they shoot pretty much the same for me. But then again I am old and easy to please. Just love to shoot arrows in both.

All I own is Longbows, I have only shot a few Recurves....

Self bow longbows for me anything else is like shooting a compound without sites. To me anyway it's what traditional actualy is. No offense meant to anyone out there.  Do and shoot what makes you happy.

I like both, but if I had to pick one, it would be the longbow. As many have said, the sound and smooth draw are important factors. I also tend to shoot them a bit better, though my old Black Bear is hard to beat.

Longbows because they look right!   :)

Prefer a longbow over the recurve because that is what I shoot best.  It's a confidence thing.  Also, in my opinion a longbow is more quiet than a recurve, and for me silence is golden.

Mudd

Longbow but I'll shoot a recurve. I like selfbows and the more modern laminated bows with glass. I guess I just like shooting bows and watching the arrows fly.
A group of guys were having a discussion at the local indoor range about some particular bow and I overheard the shop owner saying "Let Mudd try it, he'll shoot anything!" so I guess it may have some truth to it.

Funny how many people say a longbow is quiter than a recurve.
I shoot both and all mine are dead silent.
Having said that,I prefer the curve because I like the lines.
I shoot both pretty much the same but I find the longbow takes a bit more work,,,,a labour of love though.
Like most say,it's a confidence thing,,,sure can't argue with that.
Best to all.
John.

Stone Knife

I have both but shoot longbows 99% of the time. My Hills are light, simple and deadly quiet, they never hear it coming.

I have both, old Bear recurve for shooting fish.  The rest of the time a longbow seems to just fit better, no figure pinch, and I am more accurate with a longbow.  They seem to be more forgiving, to me.
