Carbon Limb Failures?

I was wondering how many carbon limb failures there have been in all the carbon limbed bows being made? I know the warranty is usually less with bowyers who build both glass bows and carbon limbed bows. Is there not enough data as to how long these limbs will last with the carbon front and back. Are these bows on the verge of exploding everytime you shoot them because of the carbon. I have had and shot carbon limbed bows as well. I don't want an argument just thoughts. Thanks Flint

O.L. has been building them for years and I have never heard of one blowing up. I have heard of some of the Black Swans blowing up.

Top-end FITA limbs have been made with outter laminations of carbon for years now. And I'd be willing to bet those guys run a lot more arrows through their bows than most bowhunters do.

Some blow up from on all of them. Materials have flaws and limbs are under incredible stress. New materials have helped to greatly decrease the chances of it happening though.

Buy from a reputable bowyer who has a history of working with carbon-like OL Adcock and ACS Archery-and you will be fine.

VM, does that bow stack like crazy at 45" of draw? lol

I had a Double Carbon Centaur blow up about two feet away from me at a 3-D shoot. the Back if the limb let go just above the bottom tip. But Centaur sent my buddy a new bow in about a month. I step back a little more now!!

It pulls 2.5#s an inch out to 36", didn't see much reason for measuring after that.

Any bow that pushes the limits that contains carbon is going to have a percentage blow up.

If you push the threshold it will push back from time to time. I witnessed an ACS blow up last year.

Carbons problems lay in compression, it is not a good core/belly material. It excels as a back material though for it has incredible stretching capabilities, As bowyers learn more and more about the materials and new ones, incredible things are being done.
