I've heard if bass fishing in lake Amistad before. Didn't realise there's also hunting around it.
Thanks for the input guys. Keep them coming

I just had the 'pleasure' of driving through Odessa on I20 two days ago. Man, I feel your pain. Good luck.
If you don't like cops, next time you need help, call Al Sharpton

I just looked at the Odessa area on Google map satellite imagery.  Wow! That is brown all around.

I have always said that odessa is the worst place Ive ever spent a night.  If I were you, I would seek any other options

We certainly do not go there for the scenery.   Years ago I took some heat on here for saying this part of west Texas is some of the most butt ugly land in the USA...    It has its own harsh beauty if you squint your eyes and turn your head just right.  The redeeming feature is that there are a lot of pigs and a decent number of Javelina about 30 miles south down on the Pecos where we have our lease.   We only hunt three months of the winter because it gets hotter than a blacksmith forge by springtime.  Living in Odessa might make a man want to take up travel as a hobby.  Life is an adventure, go where it takes you and move on.

I hunted with Mule Creek 3 years ago. While riding with Jacob I said this is the most dreary, ugly scenery I've ever seen. He replied he used to think so too, but it grows on you. I don't know if I would want to live there, but wish I had the means to spend a week there every year.  The university ranch was 8x12 square miles, or something like that, and I saw one tree on the place. The hogs sure seem to like it

Make sure you bring your sunglasses...you will need them....oh, and sun screen lotion. LOL

Odessa is definitely not the final destination. From hunting and fishing in 25to30degree Celsius in the Philippines to doing it in -20°C here in Alberta,  i have been able to adjust quite easily. I even work in -30°C here on the roofs of buildings.
I was amazed at the grid like pattern of oil rigs i saw on Google maps of Odessa.
I'm the kind that enjoys what life brings and i look forward to confirming your thoughts on Odessa and planning the next move.
Thanks again everyone.
