Thank you all for your kind welcome, but I espcially want to thank Shag08 for his generous gift. He not only gave me an amazing bow but he also spent quite a sum on seeing that it got to me safely. He is an incredible person, and I am eternally grateful for his selflessness and generosity.  The bow is beyond my expectations and certainly trumps anything I could afford to buy at the present. An awesome man I hooe to hunt with one day.

What an awesome gesture! IMO the Red Wing Hunter is one of the best factory hunting recurves ever made, and its a perfect weight.
We are all here because we are not all there.

I have a Red Wing Hunter, and it is truly a fine bow. Although I am a dedicated long bow shooter, I do have a few quality recurves. You are fortunate to receive this fine bow. I don't feel at all that 50# is too much for you to be able to shoot by hunting season, just work up slowly and steadily. With a heavy bow, it is easy to develop bad habits or even to sustain injuries. I would suggest that you limit your shots with the 50# bow until it becomes very comfortable to shoot, which will take a few weeks. Good luck with your efforts.

ahab shag is good people.  pay it forward someday when and if you can.

that Redwing Hunter you got is one of the best shooting 1pc recurves well, ever.  Many here, including myself have owned a myriad of the best of the best custom bows and I know none of us would turn down a chance to carry a Redwing Hunter in the woods, knowing they shoot great and can get the job done if you do your part.

good luck and straight shooting!

Thanks again, everyone. I just got the Red Wing strung up and some decent 500 spine carbon arrows to practice with. I'm letting it stretch now and continuing practice with the 30# until I can get some hay bails for safety reasons and to not lose/damage arrows! It is an awesome bow, and I'm drawing it every night for a couple of sets to build up my strength. I'll probably be able to shoot it Friday after work.

And if it's half as good as you guys are saying, I'll probably never get rid of it! That said, I'll never forget Shag's generosity and the overall feeling of camaraderie on this forum. If I'm ever in the position to pay it forward, I certainly will.

Look seriously at the Bear Grizzly. There are a barrel full of them on ***** and you can get a good one for about $250.00 Everyone likes them and I considered getting one too but spent the money on something else. Get a slip on quiver for it for hunting. You can easily get arrows that are 10 grains per pound of draw at 45 pound draw weight. Good hunting rig.
