For those of us interested in ordering a new custom bow from Howard Hill Archery, this may be a good time to do so.

I emailed them on Tuesday of this week with my order, after speaking with Jason earlier in the day,  I then confirmed the order with Jason on Wednesday.

Suprisingly, on Friday I then received an email from Craig saying that my bow was glued up, and that he was in the process of working it down!  Amazing.

I ordered a Big 5, with carmelized bamboo and brown and clear glass.  I also ordered a dozen POC arrows.

So a hearty "Thank You" to HHA!

And an ecouragement to TG members to get those HHA orders placed now!

Best wishes,
Frank

Hill archery never posts on here and I don't think they ever read how many times people thank them. What a shame because they have gotten a lot of new business from some fine posts on here for many years.

Great bows and I love them, not nocking them at all just speaking as a bowyer. It's nice to see happy customers and good words spoken about your service and products. Thank you goes a long ways, never seen a single post or comment from them.

Congrats on your new bow!!

Tracy
You really haven't hunted the old fashion way until you've done it from one of these Indian houses.(The Tipi) "Glenn ST. Charles"

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Craig and Evie last September, while on an unexpected business trip to Hamilton.  (I had just finished Craig's book "Howard Hill, the Man and the Legend", about a week earlier.  Providentially I then had a service call requiring my assistance in Hamilton.  After decades in my line of work I never had been called to Hamilton previously, and then suddenly there I was!)

After that visit I had the impression that they are not very involved with "modern technology".  I could be wrong, but it was the impression I had.

He showed me his shop which was clean and spacious, but with very simple equipment, which obviously had been in use for many years; definitely "old school".  The same for his office/salesroom, located in the basement of their home:  very simple and straightforward, harkening back to a simpler time.

As far as I see from these forums, Craig also has one of the fastest turn-around times of custom bowyers.  So possibly  he spends little time online?

It would be interesting to see if anyone here knows if he or his family have a presence here on TG.

Best wishes,
Frank

You want me to test that bow out for you?  I am not that far out of the way, in its journey to your house.   It's a takedown it will be easy to mail.

David Mitchell

They have absolutely the fastest turn around time I have experienced on several bows.  Great people to deal with.

Larry, if I find that I have trouble shooting it, then POSSIBLY I may have to send it to you to "test" it for me.

Or we could meet somewhere between Kentucky and Iowa.  Do you think that Cracker Barrell would mind us setting up a target in the back parking lot of one of their Illinois stores?

I don't know, people get a little touchy in Illinois.

You're going to like the HH Big 5 Frank.   Great choice.

Thanks, Deno.

After getting some wise counsel concerning the possible performance differences between the 5 lam (Wesley) and the 3 lam (Tembo) bamboo models, I decided to take the middle of the road choice with the 4 lam Big 5.

I just got a HH Wesley Special 70#, shoots pretty much the same as my Big 5.  Great bows, you'll be happy with it.  I wasn't looking for the WS but it popped up for sale and at 70" and 70#, I couldn't resist...lol

I believe once a bow is glued up there is only about 8 or 9 weeks left to wait.

David Mitchell

I never waited more than about 3 weeks from order to delivery on four different bows I have ordered from HHA.

One thing on my bucket list is to visit Craig at HHA....
My last bow A Tembo called Ambi, was in my hands in 15 days after phone call....
"TGMM Family of the Bow"

Four weeks from order?  I am just razzing Frank, my last order to Hill was two weeks.  I was thinking that they must have had a blank glued up and ready to go.

I would rather work with a great bowyer that spends all of their time making great bows and doesn't spend all of their time posting on FB and TG.

David Mitchell

Homebru, I notice that a lot of the best bow makers are not active on the forums.  Maybe they figure customers would rather they spend their time building their bow.
