Is it possible to retro-fit an existing one piece longbow into a two piece with the locket socket take down system like the one used by Big Jim , Widow and others?  I know there was an outfit out of Alaska I think that offered a kit but I wouldn't trust my go to bow with my neophyte skills!  Thanks.

I think they over build those risers then cut them in half, not sure if it would work with a normal riser.

Crooked Stic

It will depend a lot on riser shape now as to if you will have enough material left for strength after releiving for the glass wrap. Most of the bows that have the lockit socket have an off center Ibeam of glass or G10 to strengthen the sight and shelf area.So present type of riser wood would factor in also. I say you are better off to get a bow that was built that way to start with.

I would wait a bit and see if Chris at Alaska StringWorks gets back to doing it in house again (rather than just buying the diy kit from him).

I can't remember if it was Jack Harrison or Leo Markert (RIP) that told me about him a few years ago. Either way he came highly recommended.

There was an article in the first issue of Trad Archers World that converted a Fox one piece longbow to a locket/socket T/D.I believe it was by Jack Harrison, could be wrong? I've seen it done to a couple of Hill longbows, but can't remember where it was done, maybe Alaska?
