Fellas I need a break...I have some decisions to make on my career\\job situation, my idea of a good soul search is to grab my bow, pack my tent and head to Cohutta WMA, I want to get lost (figure of speech) in the woods looking for some hogs this winter. The purpose of the trip is to gain some clarity on some decisions that I need to make, no better place to do that than in the woods. All this being said this will be my first hog hunt, my first trip to the Cohutta WMA, any advice on campsites would be appreciated. I've done a search on here and read everything I could on this WMA, Thanks in advance for any input.

While I can't help in the area you'll be hunting in, I can relate to getting lost in the sticks to do some soul searching.

I did something like that. I hiked the Appalachian Trail for 3 months and it did me a world of good. It gave me the distance I needed to reflect. Good luck brother.

never done any hunting up there but have been trout fishing several times. Place is beautiful but is very steep in places. Get a map and get on one of the many trails.

Last time I was up there I saw pig sign on one of the major rivers that run through, but like I said never hunted I was fishing.

Take what you think you may need because it is a long way back to town. Also their have been fires up there so check to make sure all roads are open.

Your signature line says it all brother. Have fun in the mountains, be still and LISTEN.

Good time of year for such an endeavor.  Long nights with a campfire are good for deep reflection.  Much respect for taking the time for a short walkabout.

Does anyone have any lead where to find Hogs in Cohutta WMA?

Etter

I really wish I could help you but my mountain stomping grounds are a bit to the east of there. My guess is that you will get better info on the GON forum but pigs in the mountains are tough this time of year, especially with the amount of acorns we have had this fall
