when in using a deep hook if you want to use middle finger corner of mouth do you have to use the middle knuckle instead due to the position of the fingers hooking back towards you?

Nope, only way for me to get knuckle to corner of mouth would be to bend the wrist in, not good, flat wrist good.

Seems like my fingers wouldn't be in the right position...way to much of a deep hook but could be I do things differently. A pic could help.

I am learning here.  When they say a deep hook, I assumed that just meant putting the string deeper into the finger ( not at the tips), but not curling your fingers back like you describe.  Can you get a clean release that way ?  How ?

The youtube video (to me) portrays too deep a hook.  I advise going in the first joint like you are describing, the video looks like it is beyond that.

I prefer the finger tip, not the knuckle, in the corner of the mouth.

In any case, Your anchor is up to you.  It just has to be repeatable and result in a clean release.

A deep hook IS the string in the FIRST joint from the finger tips AND the finger tips curled back towards the chin/face.  A deep hook is NOT back in the second joint of the fingers!!!

Yes sir,first joint and it also doesn't mean to curl your fingers around the string. The first joint with your finger tips pointed straight back.

I use the first set of finger joints to hold the string and have no problem touching the corner of my lip at full draw.

If you curl your fingers too much it becomes more difficult to get a clean release.
