Does anyone have experience with Helle knives?
I think one would be the perfect addition to my traditional set up.

I hear they are a very good company but been hearing rumors their QC has gone down recently.

Kellam is another option.

Mora also. Affordable and easy to sharpen.

Haven't built a Helle knife lately so I don't know if quality has gone down, but they used to be great knives.  Wingnut sells them send him a message, he should be able to tell you.  Most of the knives from Scandinavia are great Mora knives are inexpensive and great knives also.  If you do a web search for Scandinavian knives their are a lot of makers.

I have a couple that I'm pleased with but I've had them for a while. Unique, easy to sharpen and reasonably priced.

I have a Helle that I made. Bought the blade and a block of wood. Also made the sheath. Use it for a neck knife, have never gutted a deer with it but it has cut up lots of salami at camp.

I have one that I handled a few years ago and it works great. With a short blade and a good handle  it does a lot of field work very well.

fishone

I have a couple of older ones. They are very good knives.

Helle blades are awesome. I have had mine for several years now and love it.

Replacement blade type knives are good if you can't sharpen a blade. I have used them before and Im not really a fan of them because they are so easy to break. Just my .02 worth.
