My wife just rolled her eyes, and didn't understand my excitement when I got home today.

I always swing through the mil-surp aisles at Fleet Farm when I am there. Rarely do I find anything, especially in my common size 34. I saw they had more pants in. Wool, and my size. Nice.

Then I see a little sign on the bottom shelf, 50% off clearance price...

Paid $2.50-$3 a pair! Bought everything in my size they had (grey are German wool, green are moleskin cotton cargos)

I asked someone if they had more in back, and turns out they are getting rid of mil-surp and what's out is it.

Got the title fixed.

Now I just gotta get the mil-surp moth ball smell out of them. Gonna do a warm soak in the washer with some baking soda and borax.

Any other way to get the smell out of them?

This was the Plymouth Fleet....but I think all of them are are getting rid of the mil-surp and home electronics, and condensing others.

The manager I talked with said that they are bringing in Groceries.

Not sure what that NY investment firm (that bought Fleet) is thinking, but they sure aren't in touch with their customer base!!!

I think they're just a WI. thing. But, there are some great deals there on a lot of things. The one in Antigo is the best one I've been in. Oshkosh, a close second.

There are Fleet Farm locations across Minnesota, and a few in Iowa.

Oshkosh has the best hunting/fishing section of the ones I've been too. I hear good things about Antigo, but don't get up that way much.

West Bend Fleet is like stepping back in time.

Mills Fleet originated in my town of Brainerd, MN.  The Mills family sold the company last Feb.  They cut their gun inventory in half, got out of Mil. Surplus and started selling cigarettes.  I'm not pleased.
I currently have the Mills kids in class.

Yep. This is getting out of the scope of traditional archery...but I pay attention to business dealings some (and especially where I spend time shopping).

When the Mills sold, I immediately took note of the current offerings of things I usually buy or need eventually. I have witnessed the change of stock merchandise in sporting goods, but also plumbing, electrical, lumber, farm, garden, etc. Everything became much more pre-packaged or commercial mass-produced cheap crap....and mostly not the stuff I normally need or want.

On top of that, they re-arranged the store with no logical order, so you can't find anything.

The Plymouth Fleet at least hand-made a posterboard map of the updated layout so we can find things without bothering the too-busy and too-few employees.
