I have an Assenheimer recurve made in 1989. Will it handle the new string material? or do I need to stick with b50?

Assenheimer's have pretty substantial limb tip overlays.  If it were me, I'd go to a low stretch material.  I've been using padded loop D-97 on Bear TD limbs for about 10 years now with no ill effects.  Your call, but IMO, low stretch strings are easier on bows than B-50 because they reduce limb travel at the end of the shot. Do pad the loops though.

Great bows! All around total package in my opinion as far as take downs go. It's a shame they are no longer made.

I agree. Dons bows were known for their quietness and smoothness, but I got one with birds eye maple vaneers that is the fastest recurve ive ever shot.

Wow! I only live a few miles from his shop and knew him well. I have only seen 2 birds eye maple veneer limbs of his. I'd love to see yours. Very Cool
