Flu flus

I just read an article in Trad. Bowhunter mag. about making flu flus. The one that got my interest is by taking a fletched arrow and wrapping a full length feather between the back of the fletching and the nock. That way you can still remove it and use it as a standard arrow if you need to. Anyone make them this way or have experience with this?

Yup. They work VERY well at stopping arrows.

Only ones I've made so far.
Great for inside of 20 yards... I struggle to get them to fly more than 50 yards.  It is like a parachute... and they take zero skill to make.

Okay,

I just read the "How Too" in your posting, and Im really confused???? I think I need a pictorial  :confused:  I fletch my own arrows, but I dont know what they ment by flipping the arrow in the nock reciever  :confused:

I think it would be easier to fletch the shaft and THEN add the full length feather to area between the back of the fletching and the nock. They add it and then fletch...?

Fletch 3 feathers. turn the arrow 180 degrees in the nock reciever now you can fletch 3 feathers in the gaps between the first three for  a six fletch.

To make the parachute/air brakes you add the 'chute last otherwise you'll never be able to egt the clamp in the jig.
