I Found a longbow locally for sale. It's a  Bear grizzly longbow. I have done a little searching and every time I search the only Bear longbow that comes up is the Montana. Can anyone give me any info on a Bear Grizzly Longbow.

Longtoke

the grizzly is a recurve not a longbow. Its a great plain jane shooter though, I love mine.

Cyclic-Rivers

If its listed on Craigslist, the people call it a longbow because they are ignorant.

I agree with Longtoke. Great shooting Recurve.

With copywright infringements, I doubt any other bow company would call their bow a  bear or Grizzly or Grizzly Bear for that matter.

Do you have pictures?

I shoot a bear grizzly almost everyday.  It is a fantastic bow.  For the money you won't beat it.
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Here is the pic. It says it's a Bear Grizzly static longbow.

Possum Head

Longbow lines but string to bow contact other than at tips deems it a curve. Nice stick bet it shoots sweet.

Yep, static tip recurve. I love the looks and grips on those old Bears. If the price is good, grab it.

Possum is spot on. We've been all over the map on the definition of long bows, but one thing remains constant. On a longbow the string doesn't come into contact with the top of the limb. Now days you expect that grip and riser area to belong to a long bow but back then this is how recurves were made.

If that bow is in really good condition with cracks or splits and nothing damaged at the nocks it will be a good shooting bow that can be shot just like Howard Hill would shoot a longbow.   When i was teen there were weveral in my hometown.  Eventually they all went to Herters recurves or Roots that I sold them.

Crested Finger

Oh an old one.    Always wondered about static limbs vs working limbs. Are working ones really that much better that no one makes statics anymore?

I think it has some to do with a smoother draw, but not sure. Some bowyers still make static tip bows. I love the looks of them.

180 is the asking price does that sound pretty good.

SELFBOW19953

If the bow has an aluminum lamination, it is NOT a good idea to shoot it.  Aluminum lam bows are famous for delaminating.
