One of my good friends just inherited a Herters CR-17 International Match recurve that belonged to his grandfather.  It is a beautiful bow (tan glass, rosewood riser, slender limbs) and measures 67.5 from string groove to string groove, 69.25 from tip to tip around the belly, unstrung.

Anybody have one of these and know the proper string length?  I don't think AMO standards will be correct and I'd like to cut down on guesswork if possible.

Herters almost always put a decal on their bows stating the proper string length.

The couple of Herter's bows I've had,the recommended string length was on the decal.

Same here with the sticker.  The one's I've owned/seen got a string 6" shorter than the marked bow length.

Stickers on this one don't give either the bow length or the string length.  I'm guessing if I call it a nominal 70" bow, a 6" shorter string will be about right.  Thanks, Chad.
