I just picked up one of these from a fellow member. It is an original and appears to be in very good cond. It has only been shot a handful of times in the last decade. Just curious to hear peoples thoughts on these and what the performance is like. Never had one or even looked into them, but came across it at what I think is a really good price and its a cool looking bow

northener

Very good bows, it will not be the fastest, but it will be stable, quiet, smooth, accurate, durable and dependable,a real pleasure to shoot.

I own several Wes Wallace's bows, same design.

I would agree wonderful bow.  One of the best available in its time.  What length is it?

Highlandwarrior

Highlandwarrior

Yup 60" 61#@27" but I draw roughly 28.5 so it will be a bit heavier

Big Ed

That is what I started with and the only bow that I have never sold. Great bows!!

Big Ed I'm with you, other than I sold mine   :knothead:  Man I wish I could get that back!

Enjoy a great shooting bow!

Glad to hear everyone that has em loves em. Thought I made a good choice. And as far as is being a little slow, Wes Wallace said he can make longer limbs with reinforced tips for modern strings for it that will take care of that issue for under $400

Before you got that route shoot her and see what she does. Its not a "slow" bow and the b50 string is a real pleasure to shoot.  I am honored that the bow i killed my first trad deer with will be in good hands. It has killed my first 9 animals every animal die in sight with perfect hits. Then I retired it from hunting. She has alot of luck left in her! Enjoy!

Highlandwarrior

Oh that was just a backup plan based on others input. I plan on shooting it a long time before doing anything, if at all. Thanks again, can't wait to get it!

northener

I said that wrong, sorry, they are not any slower than any other bow of that time frame.. Quality bow all the way. It's a great design, that has been copied by many.

No worries. I just like to be prepared and have back up plans. If I like it as much as everyone else that has commented on them I will eventually need lower weight limbs as age progresses anyway, so searching that out was worth it. I wouldn't be overly worried about speed unless it was blatantly obvious. If its as fast as the Bears 20-30 years older its good enough for me.I'm thinking I will really like it as is and can't wait to get it and shoot

Highlandwarrior

Got my Brachenbury the other day, was very pleased with the condition, not that that was surprising. Didn't get to shoot it until today and I must say the info provided here was accurate. I am quite happy with it, it seems plenty fast to me and is very quiet. I actually shoot it better than my long bow, which is kind of bittersweet since the longbow was a gift from a bowyer friend who is no longer making them, and I had planned on it being my go to bow. So all in all I have to agree with everyone here that these are great bows!
