I take my hat off to all of you who can sharpen a zwickey as I have tried several ways and I can not get them sharp. I can sharpen a snuffer very well and wated to go to the 4 blade zwickey since I am about out of the snuffers. I am still open to suggestions. I even tried the tutorial method.....

Don't feel bad. You've got at least one other riding in the same boat as you. Give me a COC 3 blade and I can return it sharp, anything else is hit or miss.

Grobet single-cut file.

S-24 broadhead sharpener will speed up the initial shaping.

Tried the KME but can't sharpen the 4 blade with it..

I have a friend with the same problem. He bought one of the hand held sharpeners with the carbide inserts uses that to start and then finishes with a stone and leather. Sharp as a razor. I bought one myself works really well if you keep the blade at 90 degrees it will get a burr for you in no time. And finish her off.

Buy some more Snuffers   :D

I've had no problems keeping my Zwickey Eskimo's sharp, as they are very easy to sharpen.

Couple of things. 1. The factory edge may need renewing or 2. you may have curved your edge trying to get it sharp. Either will benefit from a jig to hold the edge constant to establish a new straight edge. That is done with even strokes of consistent pressure. At no time use much force. A few passes (each side top & bottom) may produce the telltale burr which you can feel. It will be on each cutting edge but  one side of the BH only. Remove this burr with polishing compound on a cotton, leather, or cardboard wheel & you're done. I sent you an e-mail.

The key to sharpening them is too maintain the same bevel, with a quality file (2nd the choice of a Grobet file), until a burr is produced on the edge, then removed.

Easiest sharpening head I use.  I like the Lil Shaver myself.  Then finish with very light swipes on the Montec "v" sharpener--the one that resembles a timy ball bat.

I USED TO FILE THEM BY HAND AND THEY WERE ALWAYS SHARP .JUST CHANGE THE ANGLE A LITTLE MORE FLATER LESS ANGLE AND THEY WILL SHAVE HAIR NO PROBLEM . NOW I MADE A SET UP WITH TWO FILES  ON A V BLOCK AND HELD IN A VISE THAT WILL KEEP THE ANGLE NEAR THE SAME AS THE FACTORY  AND WILL MAKE THEM SHARP AS YOU WILL EVER NEED .I THINK THREE RIVERS SELLS THE V  BLOCK  SET UP . I MAKE EVERYTHING SO IT IS NO PROBLEM GETING A RAZOR SHARP EDGE .

I have no problem getting mine sharp all I use is a file I shave on the downstroke with little pressure at all.

Zwickeys have always been easy for me. I use Spyderco ceramic sticks and easily obtain razor edges on both the main and bleeder blades. For the bleeder you use the sticks as you would a file.

Simple as simple can get.  Go to 3 Rivers and get a Hollowground Sharpener - Item #5202 23.50.  It holds two chain saw files side by side.

As  said above, the key for me was changing the angle.But I now shoot 3 blade heads

I 've used them for 25 years and have always used a file. Flaten the angle a little.To where the file hits the furale. Works great for me. BAD SPELLING I know.

You may be putting too much pressure on the file of filing them too much.

Everyone always told me to use a file and I could never get it to work.

I recently switched to a Smith's sharpener, which is basically a smaller accusharp with a carbid and graphite side.

I run that through until I can start popping hair and then strop it with a homemade strop: leather nailed to a block of wood with valve grinding compound rubbed in.

All I have to do is touch my No Mercy's up now. They are always good to go.

I use a pull thru and bastard file, but i still cant get my deltas as sharp as my single bevel grizzlies.
