Ahhh, November in Iowa.  Having filled my statewide tag in late Oct., I was left with my landowner tag, a doe tag, and a KS tag still in my pocket.  Saturday evening I was perched in a oak tree watching a few young bucks cruising around looking for trouble.  With about 45 minutes of legal light left this buck came in from behind me (downwind) and walked to about 12 yards.  At this time I still hadn't commited to which side of the tree I was going to try to position myself for a shot.  As the buck stood by, I heard another deer approach from the south.  I slowly turned my head to see what it was as I didn't want to take a shot until I knew what else was standing there.  I was able to turn my head slowly and see that it was a younger buck.  The larger buck then circled behind and walked on the east side of the tree.  I was able to get turned in the tree as he passed behind through the brush.  At about 16 yards I let a soft hhhmmmppp out and he stopped.  By that time I was at full draw and let the arrow go.  The shot was good and the rest is history.  I had seen this buck on a couple occassions during the past week and also had video of him as well as a shed from last year.  I've been very blessed to have gotten the opportunities this year with the limited time that I've gotten out.  I was actually planning on taking this week off but it looks like I'll be heading to the shop to get back in the sawdust.  Have a great time out there and stay safe.  Brian

WOW! Congrats on a great buck!

That does it, I'm gonna have to move to Iowa. Not. But it sure is tempting.
