Thats the way to stick to it!!!! It gets aggravativeing when things don't go right but you have proved that sticking with it and not giving up, learning from mistakes will pay off. I've hunted for 25 years and learn something every time I go out. Just getting close to a animal is a acomplisment in its self. WAY TO GO!!!!

well as you know i spooked a monster whitetail on 10/27/10 well i hunted Saturday November 6 2010 i was at a foot ball game the night before with all my friends hanging out i was so tired i slept in the next day till 8:30 got up ate got dressed and walked 2 miles to my stand i carried all my clothes so i didn't sweat it was 34 degrees perfect temp and the rut is on so i got down in the thick hemlocks and realized i forgot my tree steps so i walked back to the house got them and walked back ad i laid a 50 yard scent trail over the fence hoping the buck would come through smell it and come to me. well i had just taken a pee (bear in mind i use tight hot water botttles like the wensels do) and 5 mins later all i see is a white chest and a huge rack i thought pretend u saw a spike that calmed me down i grabbed my bow as fast as i could hes so in rut doesnt realize and he walked to 6 yards ofered me a shot about 2 feet around cause of so my branches he was about to jump the fence and i drew down and thwack i saw blood immediatley and thought yes i was jumping in my stand oh i was so happy he was crashing around then silence so i waited 1/2 hour got down and found first blood went home and told my father brother mom and sister oh i was so happy we went and found the blood and there was blood every where and there he laid dead as a stone a monster 7 pointer

Way to go, Bud.

You've got quite a start on some a lot older than you!

Try to enjoy the whole experience- I know when you are young the achievement of a goal is really important- but its the people, places, and total experience you'll remember as much as anything...

Keep a daily hunt journal- start now- and when you are 50 you'll have a wealth of data and experiences you can draw from, and look back on with pride and enjoy reading your thoughts from a deer stand over and over.

beauty buck!

Nice man. Trust me that was not too bad. I'm 19 now, but when I was 17 I missed a big guy like him. He was at 30 yards and I was on the ground, their was a sapling covering his front shoulder that I was so worried about. Well I was too focused on that sapling so I nailed it. I'm just glad that sapling was there because if it wasn't I would have nailed his front shoulder! Congrats, I'm glad it worked out for ya!

Great story young man!  Read through the pages of Trad Gang and you will see you are a blessed young at only 17 and a traditional bowhunting veteran. Alot of guys on here still looking for that first, good going!
Everything I have and have become is due to the Lord and his great mercy.
