Best wool silencer I have ever used and beats the heck out of other types too.

lets face it,you'll probably never get a recurve as quiet as a longbow simply because of the string hitting the limb on a recurve.thats just common sense.i put them on all my recurves and they do work very well and there is a huge difference when using them as opposed to not using them.you cant go wrong using them for sure.the best in my opinion.

OK guys...I'm going to order some.

For $12.00 they are WELL worth the investment. Use both on my recurve and it is as quiet as a mouse fart.

I find if funny that folks "choke" on a $12 cost when they are shooting $500+ bows.....

Any yes, there is a difference in the product you get and what you can buy at the craft store.   :readit:

I didn't want to get hooked on them if they weren't worth it. I shoot a lot...and wear out a couple of strings a years (could make them last but I replace them religiously).

Also, a bow can last a life time (e.g. old bear bows).

They are worth it ... I just ordered two more sets of the hush puppies for some new strings on my long bows and I keep the old strings for back up.

I have a fancy yarn store not too far from where I live and they carry nothing like it ... and they have yarns from all over the world.

Also if you kill a nice critter and send Terry a hero picture with your Hush Puppy equipped bow he might send you a free set

I've installed the Hush Puppies some time ago and have shot at least a hundred arrows through them but they don't seem to be settling in.  Yesterday was bad...I kept having to pick up fir after every shot it seems.  The yarn seems too thick and it doesn't look like the string is twisting naturally...there's maybe 3 or 4 turns through the length of the Hush Puppies and doesn't seem like it's enough to hold them in. What am I doing wrong?  Is this salvageable?

The hush puppies worked great on my recurve. Been shooting them about three months and I like them. Probably the best string silencer I have tried.

mooseman76

Question on the bow hush.  Do you need to unstring your bow for the yarn to keep its shape?  I like to keep my recurve strung (and it is recommended by the bowyer) and worry that doing so will crush the yarn and make it less effective.  Any thoughts?  Thanks...Mike

Terry Green

mcflurry.....what kind of string do you have?  Flemish or endless?

Moose...don't worry about it.  That's why I use the New Zealand wool...cause it has more crimp and the fiber acts more like a spring or shock absorber.  Its all I use in our carpet because of that fact and it makes the carpet more resilient.

I have the puppies and just ordered two sets of he bow hush and puppies.

They get a free ride to Alaska in a few months...
Give me a bow a topo and two weeks, and I guarantee I kill two weeks!

Silencers are not the only consideration when trying to get your bow as quiet as possible. Need to consider your brace height, arrow weight and string. Just my 2 cents. I use hush puppies and love them. I use one hush puppie and divide in 2 pieces, works great.

Terry, it's a 14 strand endless string.  Not sure of the material itself, but I want to say Dynaflight 97.  I split the 14 strands placed the Puppies right in the middle.

Mcflury....like it says on the web page.....endless strings sometimes don't hold them very well due to the lack of twists.

Email me your address and I'll send you something out for your troubles.
