Bow hush and puppies?

I have read lots of post that Bow hush and puppies are great a quieting a bow, and I have heard only good things about the company and owner, but I have a few questions before I shell out some cash. My recurve is pretty quite...but I want it as quite as my longbow. I want it to sound like a mouse breaking-wind at 100yds when I am only 10yds from a deer.

Do these products really make that much of a difference?

Are they that much better than making wool puffs and wrapping your sting (ends) with a good quality wool yarn...from the poor-boys fly tying shop...err I mean craft store?

I use them on my silvertip and they work great.

My Ancient Spirits recurve is silent. Shot a turkey from a ground blind last fall from only 5-6 yds......the rest of the flock just stayed there----they didn't know what happened; just that the big tom was flopping around......

The Hush Puppies and Bow Hush combo are DA BOMB!!  :archer2:

I love mine!  They really aren't that expensive. Especially if only doing one bow. You can always try other alternatives first and see if you like it. Also a recurve will generally have a little more noise than a long bow. At ten yards a deer will hear a bow no matter what. Either way enjoy playing with your equipment till season starts.

I know people like (or love) them...but are they better (quieter)?

I think they are quieter because it is a much heavier, coarser yarn than the wool yarn from the craft store.  I however use the craft stuff only because I am constantly messing with thing and can make many puffs from one skein and my wife found me some merino wool in camo.

I have a Widow PCH that I'm going to order a set for. If they can quiet this one down they'll work on anything.

Personally, I don't think there is any comparision between the Hush Puppies and regular craft yarn.  Much better at dampening vibrations in the string.  Also much better at shedding water in a rain.

Mine are awesome.  They really quiet it down, and are a quality product.

They are the beesknees, the shiznit, the bomb, all that and a bag of chips, going to be on every string my bow wears forever and ever.

How's that for ya?

My TF III is the quietest recurve I own. It has the Bow Hush and spiders, but I've also got a pair of Hush Puppies that will be going on to replace the spiders and quite it even more.

You won't find yarn/wool as heavy as this stuff at any store. I love mine, just finished installing another set 1/2 hr ago!

My bow is quiter bow w/ hush puppies, then rubber wiskers. I ordered them for the rest of my bows.

**DONOTDELETE**

Get both and add pieces of mole skin to limb tips and it's just as quite as any long bow.

I agree and as mentioned they are a quality product, which translates into longevity. If you do not want to tinker with your setup, you do not have to and they will last for years.

Great product.
