I love d-selfbows. Plain and simple !!! The best have no leather grip or shelf. I shoot off my hand. Its
very natural and gives a feel of being part of the bow and action. How many of You shoot this
way??? With 40 plus years of this shooting style..this gives me the most pleaser. Thanks ...Jeff

I do and  it does have a natural fell I like rigid in the handle flatbows but having a cut in shelf makes them so much easier to tune,Dave.

I shoot off my hand too but lately have been using a Ferret's floppy rest. I use it to protect my skin that is thinning with age. Same feel as off the hand.

I bought a leather strap dealy-bob that covered my bow hand where the arrow ran. Bought it off e---y.

my hats off to all you folks who shoot off the hand. imho its not the easiest thing to do, i am getting better at it . i have to make a concious effort to do everything right . holding the bow is very important and holding it the same way every time,  aiming is a little different , bow is not center shot, im having to remember what the arc of the arrow looks like at certain distances. arrow spine has been a crucial factor. i just learned i can go 5 # less with the same length shaft and same grain poit? broad head to get  better flight. so its basically taken me almost a year to learn how to shoot off the hand . what a learning experiece! it really has been like learning how to shoot all over again

i shoot off the hand and with a floppy rest both. i like the feel for the arrow that shooting off the hand gives you for quick shots, at the same time i like the floppy because of consistent grip. i really dont think i could pick a favorite between the two, but lately ive been leaning more toward simpler is better, and shooting off my hand is part of that. only thing i could say against either way is that sometimes you get fletch wear with a rest, and ive seen pics of fletch stuck through someones hand from shooting off hand when the quills werent smoothed well.

I only do it with a glove on my bow hand. One too many quills driven into my skin over the years. I much prefer a leather grip and small leather "shelf" to shoot off.
