Hello to all Trad Gangers out there.

Hello Texas,

we finally made it.

Flights are booked. Counting the days .....

With the help of a friend we are going to hunt LAGUNA ATASCOSA from November 27th - December 4th this year.

Arriving at SAN ANTONIO November 11th and fly back to Europe on December 8th.

Planning to visit NEW MEXICO and ARIZONA as well.

Getting together with some down to earth folks and share a campfire/ hunting camp is what we are looking for.
I will bring my guitar along as well - second best weapon to me.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

My best friend is going to celebrate his 50th birthday in october this year.

So I am trying to do my best to make his life dream come true.

The two of us in that pic is my best friend Fred on the right and myself after  Turkey hunt.

He has been talking about hunting in the US with his recurve bow, for many years.
His two kids ( lovely daughter and son ) saved up some of their pocket money and will support him this way.

I remember his son saying: " DAD, IF YOU NEED SOME EXTRA MONEY, I WILL SELL YOU MY BEST FISHING ROD."

Logic of a child, innocent and honest !!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the inputs so far

I will keep you updated.       :archer2:

Full Draw outfitters would be a great place and you wouldn't go wrong.

Do you want a guided hunt and would you be interested in bear? I have a friend who is a guide in Northern Maine who has a bear hunt in late August thru the end of Sept. You would have a great time.
The best things in life....aren't things!

I second the Bear hunt for a week, then I would concentrate on a cheap whitetail hunt, Depending on where you go, whitetail can be overpopulated. There are plenty of them here in North Carolina.

Bear in Maine can be slow. What I mean is the hunts are later in the day and you cant bird hunt or hunt anything else other than coyotes , but it does take place in some beautiful country. If I was looking for a 3 week once in a lifetime trip such as you mentioned Id go south.Texas would be your best bet to hunt all day and see a greater variety of game.Hogs, deer, birds, snakes, varmints and such.Good luck.

Make sure you check the hunter education regulations before you finalize plans. Would be awful to set it up and find you can't get an archery tag because of the beuracracy.

I think what you want is time with other Tradgangers.  You are welcome to hunt around my home area, just let me know.  It's a rural section...mostly mountain ridges and farmland.  We can hunt whitetails or small game....or both.  Our archery season here starts around the first of October....but stump season is open year round 8^).  Just PM me and we can talk about details.
I'm also a guitar picker 8^).

Check with "Cacciatore" he hunts the States from Europe on a regular basis.  He could help you with logistics and requirements.

As a first time US hunt, I'd probably have to say Texas is the place to go. Curtis Kellar at 7th Age Outfitters is THE man to speak to. Licences & tags are all over the counter & hunter's ed is not required. Game is plentiful, the weather's nice, & the prices aren't ridiculous.
These days it seems like Texas is set up for visiting hunters & the State seems to make it as easy as possible for non-residents to hunt.

I'm new to the US, came from England 9 months ago. I started out doing pretty much exactly what you're planning so please feel free to PM me if you think I can help in any way!

It would be hard to do better than Curtis Kellar and 7th Age in Texas.

Hi from Spain

I have been hunting in the Us three times, in Texas and Indiana. Texas with one outfitter, for javies, hogs, small game and in Indiana, with friends, for whitetails.

The advice from Cacciatore is excellent, more fun with friends than with one outfitter and deer hunting is a wonderful experience.

Send me one message if you need help

I will try to answer each one-just asking for your patience here.

If you're looking for a fun time hunting deer and turkey in the fall we have our share of those in Missouri. I'd be more than happy to show you what I know. There's plenty of camping areas at a very low cost(mostly free). I can't "Wine&Dine" you in a very fancy way but you're welcome to share in whatever I have to offer in my camp. I'd even welcome some "pickin & grinnin"!
God bless,Mudd

PS: Just Google earth Asland, Missouri. It should give you a good look at our terrain.
I started to joke around and tell you you could bring your horse also, cause I've tasted horse and it's not bad eating..lol but i won't!

Hello Mudd,

It appears to me, that your offer comes STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART.

That makes me proud.

Would love to share    :campfire:  with you one day.

Is this your dog in the pic ?
What kind of breed is he ?
