Great Post, wish I lived closer, would LOVE to do this, I've had MANY bows, including 2 Hornes & they don't come much better !! I will have another T/D Combo Hunter L/B {someday} ... Mark & Sandy are "GOOD" People !! Have fun Barry .....

Horne's Archery

Adam great to hear from you, your welcome any time.

Burr Acres

buckster - On my first trip to meet Mark & Sandy, I shot Mark's "go-to" bow which is how decided what I wanted to build - one just like this!

I got to tell you, I have never worked well in wood either. Metal is more to my liking. You'll be fine as Mark is there to explain exactly what to do and watch to make sure don't go too far. I actually goofed a few times but the goofs were subtle and easily fixed. You're gonna be fine! Thanks again for the kind words.

MARK - Happy New Year!

SPOTTEDDOG - I appreciate you commenting!

Traddict

I have a couple of Mark's bows and love both of them.  I plan on going through the school in the near future.  I've shot one of the kit takedowns, and was very impressed.

I have had a hornes brushbow and now a combohunter ( two sets of limbs). I have decided that I have no need to seek out a new bow. Only build a new one.

I felt like I was talking to a long time friend every time I talked to Mrs. Sandy. Great customer service.

When I finally graduate from nursing school this is going to be my reward. I bow class with Mr. Mark. I can't wait to walk out with a one piece longbow and the knowledge to make another!
Combo Hunter 46@28

I came from nothing and I brought it with me.

Burr Acres

Traddict - The school is great and all things considered, the school is a bargain - live a little! I have been shooting everyday now - until I get sloppy - with my Horne's bow. The groups are getting smaller!

nightowl - I, like you, have no need for a new bow except when considering a spare someday and, it should be exactly like this one!

Horne Shooter

I have several of Mark's bows and they are high quality and hard shooting.  I'm taking my 15 year old on a "father/son" trip to build a bow with Mark.  Can't wait!
Live every day like its your last, one day you'll be right.

Horne's Archery

Dan,

Sounds like you are getting along great with your bow.  Enjoy!!!

Talked to your brother yesterday and he booked in the March 6th  & 7th class.

Lance,

We really enjoyed our hunt with you on Saturday.  Looking forward to a bow school with you.

Nightowl1,

It is always a pleasure to hear from you.  We are really excited to see you graduate from nursing school.  It will be great to spend a few days with you here in a bow school.

Horne Shooter,

Looking forward to you and your son in bow school.  It will be a blast.

Best of luck on your hunt.  I sure wish I could be there with you guys.

buckster

Adam,

Get yourself to Little Rock and I will pick you up and we can drive to Marks from there.  SW Airlines may have some cheap flights.  Just saying!

Burr Acres

Mark,

I am getting along just fine. I try to shoot every day at 12 yards. Stepped back to 15 a few times. The good news, for me anyway, is that my first arrow is always my best arrow. When I find myself getting sloppy, I quite. This usually happens after 18 - 24 arrows. When would be a convenient day to come back and get some shooting instruction and get more eggs?
As for my brother, he is very excited and I likely will be giving you his deposit once he finalizes what he wants.
Talk to you soon - THX

Horne's Archery

Dan,

Anytime is a good time for us.  Just give us a call and let us know that you are on your way and we will make it work.

Mark

buckster

Put my deposit down today, tenatively set to go on 5/1, unless the dates conflict with the Missouri Spring Turkey season opening, which I need to check on.

I'm driving from the Little Rock area if anyone wants to travel that way with me for the school?

what's the cost for the weekend school?
1) Gen. 21:20
And God was with the lad, he grew, and he dwelt in the wilderness, and he became an archer
2)The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who would not.

Burr Acres

Nighthawk,

I'd suggest going to Horne's Archery website for more detail but the exact cost of the school will come down to deciding on what bow you want to build and what optional upgrades you pick

Horne's Archery

NightHawk,

The price on the bow school will start at $600.00 for the One Piece Longbow and the Take Down Longbow will start at $675.00 in basic woods.

The basic woods are a Bubinga Handle with Black Locust-Maple Cored Limbs.

We do also offer a few upgrades Cocobolo Handle, Bocote Limbs and Bamboo Core.

Don't hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions.  We will be happy to discuss all options with you.
