If any of you shoot wood out of a tomahawk 62" or 64" 55 @28 with 28" draw what spine shafts work for you because I have tried up to 65-70# with no luck they are all to weak. Thanks for your help if you can. Oh also 160 gr point

Have you called 3Rivers yet?  Their customer svc is excellent.

I cant imagine those shafts are too weak.  Ill tell you that my Tomahawk almost identical specs only three pounds heavier at that draw likes the Beman ICS Hunter 300 shafts full length with a 100 gr brass insert and 235 grains of broadhead.  Those arrows really do fly well out of that bow.  Just a thought.  Sorry I cant help you with the wood shaft problems you are having.  If you wanted to try one out I could probably send one your way and see what you think of it.  Shoot me a pm with your address and Ill mail one out to you.

I paid a visit to 3Rivers a few years ago and tried out a tomahawk. It was 55 pounds at 28. I think it was the 62 inch model. They had a whole bunch of different spined arrows. My draw with it was 28. I got the best result with 50 to 55 pound arrows. It shot real well. Don't forget to try different nock settings. They can make a lot of difference. Sometimes the arrow will look like it is wobbling back and forth from an incorrect nock setting. Gary

I have been bare shaft tuning. And they all are flying nock left badly. I just got my 45lb bow to shoot 60-65 well. I also like a longer arrow incase I break it.

How much longer do you like your arrows?  The extra arrow length and heavy point are likely making the arrow seem weak.  Is this bow cut to center?

I ran some numbers thru Stu's spine calc and came up with 79lb for a 30" arrow.  Seems a little high to me, but I was figuring close to 75lb.

I had a 64" 55# Tomahawk. I used 70-75 @29.5 BOP with a 125gr point with great results. The bow also shot 75-80 real well......

I shoot a 31" Beman carbon arrow with my 70# Tomahawk Diamond SS. Haven't experienced any difficulties.

But really, call 3Rivers. Their customer service is extraordinarily good.

I talked to Dale Karch and he told me the shelf cut on the Tomahawks were +3/16". That kind of surprised me, but once I knew this I used Stu Miller's Chart to find a number of different arrows to fly good out of my boy's bow.

I shoot 65-70 POC from my 55# THawk. I am using 125 up front. You will have to go up at least 10 lbs with a 160 gr head. Also I think the bow shoots better with Dacron.

celticknot

Well I plan on shooting atleast 30 inches long and I have shot up to a 65-70 bareshaft and it shot nock left bad so I just ordered some 75-80 lam birch. So hopefully they will work.

If the bow is cut 3/16" past center, you will need all of that 75 lb spine.  If you are still weak, just build the plate out with some thin leather until the arrows shoot straight.  Good luck and keep us posted.

What m midd says.  I was told when I bought mine it was cut 1/16 from center.

I found that same information (+ 1/16") on the Tomahawk website. I guess my hearing isn't as reliable as when I was younger. Thanks for setting me straight.
